What's Happening in Cedar City, UT, Brian Head, UT, Parowan, UT and the surrounding areas.April 8th – 14th – This is a week filled with adventure, including live music, a Lunar Party, Brian Head Resorts Spring Carnival, performing arts, the ICHBA: Spring Home & Garden Fair, two 5K races, even an Adult Prom. You can also enjoy Pop up Cafe, Farmers Markets, Historical Society Literary Lecture, art exhibits and more! So be sure to get out and always Let Wonder be Your Guide!

MONDAY, APRIL 8th

SUU Bread & Soup Nite held 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the SUU – Sharwan Smith Center Ballroom (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City). One of the best events on campus! All-you-can-eat breads, soups and desserts plus live entertainment for $1 with a non-perishable food donation (or $3 without). All donated food goes to support the campus HOPE Pantry. Everyone is welcome to this fun and family-friendly event!

Cedar Area Interfaith Alliance Light Supper fundraiser the Women’s Auxiliary invite Women of the local communities to join a Light Supper in support of the Care & Share at 6:00 pm in the Heritage Center – Room 7 (105 N 100 E, Cedar City). Supper is FREE; please call and RSVP with Marguerite Smith at 435-867-5487.

Yoga at SUMA held 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City), $6 for members and $12 for nonmembers. The Yoga at SUMA series brings the practice of yoga into SUMA’s open gallery spaces. Led by Cedar Yoga Space instructor Ivy Kiley, these hour-long classes are for all abilities and levels. No experience is necessary. Please bring your own mat. Classes are limited to 25 participants and are first-come, first-serve.

Family Swim Night open from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Cedar City Aquatic Center (2090 W Royal Hunte Dr, Cedar City). Admission includes: 2 adults & 4 kids for only $10, additional family members are regular price. For information call 435-865-9223.

SUU – Piano & String Ensembles held in the SUU – Thorley Music Recital Hall (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City). Admission is FREE and open to the public.

TUESDAY, APRIL 9th

Frontier Homestead: Children’s Story Time held 10:00 am at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N Main St, Cedar City), admission is FREE. This is an opportunity for preschool children to learn about the past through stories and history-related activities. Thanks to the support of the Cedar City · Brian Head Tourism Bureau, children’s story time is offered free to the public. For information call 435-586-9290.

Fiddlers Fun Center $2 Tuesday held every Tuesday at Fiddlers Fun Center (170 E Fiddlers Canyon Rd, Cedar City). Come enjoy Movies for $2, $1 popcorn, $1 Pizza, and always stay & play at our state of the art Arcade facility.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10th

Wonder Wednesdays held 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Cedar City Library (303 N 100 E, Cedar City). This new program is held in conjunction with early out Wednesdays for elementary schools. Children accompanied by an adult can drop by anytime between 2-4 pm for make-n-take activities. These programs are free for Iron County elementary students.

Kick life in the Peach: Obstacle Course Fundraiser held 11:00 am – 4:00 pm   next to the Sharwan Smith Student Center on Southern Utah University Campus (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City). Participate by overcoming 15-20 mental and physical obstacles in this course while also raising funds for SUU Disabilities and Discovery Ranch for Girls. The Goal is to raise $1,000 for charity! Day-of cost is $12 SUU Students and $14 Community Members. This challenge course will be a fun and quick course to do individually or in a group; can be done anytime between classes & work.

Iron County Historical Society: SUU Professor, James M. Aton Literary Lecture – “Crimson Cowboys: The Remarkable Odyssey of the 1931 Claflin-Emerson Expedition;” at 7:00 pm at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N Main St, Cedar City), FREE. Come and hear the remarkable story from 1931 when a group from Harvard University’s Peabody Museum accomplished something that had never been attempted in the history of American archaeology.

THURSDAY, APRIL 11th

Pop up Cafe from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm at Art Works Gallery (16 N 100 W, Cedar City). Best kept secret in Cedar! The farmer who loves to cook with the food she grows pops up in town once a week! She makes: seasonal sandwiches, soup, salads, scones, tarts, quiche, cookies, and other delectable goodies. Stay and eat in the art gallery or take it to go. You can grab something for dinner too. 2nd annual Live Life Again 5K beginning at 8:30 am at Cedar Canyon Fields/Veterans Memorial Park (408 E 275 N, Cedar City), $10 pre – registration per runner or $15 for same day registration. 2019 Football Spring Game & Family Fun held 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Southern Utah University – Eccles Coliseum – Football Stadium (1150 W University Blvd, Cedar City). One fan will get to kick a field goal and field a punt. There will be a fun for all ages and youth 8th grade and younger will be able to run through the tunnel take the field with the team and participate in drills with the team. Admission is Free!

Miss Iron County Run for Postpartum Mental Health 5K registration is at 11:30 am and the run will begin at 12:00 pm (noon) at the Cedar Canyon Park, West Side (500 E Center St, Cedar City). Registration is $20.

Family Day at SUMA held 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City), admission is FREE. Springtime in the Rockies will sweep you from the tops of the mountains right out into the old west as we present a delightful assortment of folk songs from this wonderful land we call home!

SUMA: Senior BFA Capstone Exhibition held Monday – Saturday 11:00 am – 6:00 pm at Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City), admission is FREE. This exhibit showcases the culmination of the undergraduate art studio experience for graduating students and includes work from a variety of artistic disciplines: art education, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography, painting, drawing, and printmaking.
