It’s festival season in Cedar City and we’re ready check them all of our adventure bucket list.  Cedar City has earned the distinction of being Festival City, USA due to the incredible theatrical and cultural offerings; Utah Shakespeare Festival, Simon Festival, Utah Summer Games, Cedar City Livestock and Heritage festival, and more. In Cedar City you will discover a unique small city complete with world-renowned theatricals, astounding beauty, and unbelievable outdoor recreation. June is the kick-off month for festivals, so here’s your ultimate guide to the must-see events in Cedar City!  


Stroll through tree lined walkways, enjoy a freshly-baked tart, and settle in for the Green Show before catching one of the eight plays offered this season by the Utah Shakespeare Festival. The Larry H Miller Utah Summer Games has called Cedar City its home since 1986 with an average total of 9,600 participants, 50,000 spectators and 1,000 volunteers in attendance every year. With athletes from all over the state participating in sports ranging from soccer to basketball, pickle ball to water polo, mountain biking and even horseshoes; you’re bound to find something that fits.

Are you looking for an out-of-this-world experience? Spend a weekend at Three Peaks Recreation Area under Southern Utah starry skies with the Utah UFO festival! This event is welcome to families and UFO enthusiasts (or those just wanting to learn more) of all ages.

Step back in time and make history a part of your story with the Frontier Homestead State Park at the Frontier Folk-life Festival. You don’t want to miss this two day event full of live music, historical demonstrations, hands-on-activities, and many local artists and vendors to shop with!

With over 250 species of wildflowers blooming in the park, it’s hard to see them all – popular wildflower sightings are the Colorado Columbine, Aspen Bluebells, Elkweed, Indian Paintbrush, Sunflowers, and Yellow Evening Primrose, Aster, Flax, Fireweed, Larkspur, Lupine, Pretty Shooting Star, and Marsh Marigolds are also on the commonly spotted list.

Join in the games, crafts, entertainment and excitement as the Cedar City Main Street Park is transported back in time as it’s set for the Mid-Summer Renaissance Faire. This festival has called Cedar City its home for 30 years, calling visitors from far and wide to enjoy the festivities.

A parade, carnival, car show, rodeo and demolition derby all in one place? The Iron County Fair is always a great time. Entrants from all over Iron County submit artwork, prize winning vegetables, and more. Enjoy live music and some amazing food as you wander through the Iron County Fair Grounds in the beautiful Parowan, Utah.

Have you ever seen a Sheep Parade? Here’s your chance. Parading down Main Street, these sheep have traveled between Cedar Mountain and the valley, making their way through Cedar City since 1870. Follow the Sheep to the Diamond Z Arena/event center for a tractor pull, dutch oven cooking, and more!
