April 22-28 This week is bursting with activities that will pull you outside, inspire your creativity, and enliven your sense of wonder! It’s National Park week for our neighbors at Zion, Kolob Canyons, and Bryce Canyon and there’s never been a better time to get out and find your new favorite trail. Ride with the Iron Giants Mountain Bike Team, create and learn something new at SUMA for their Create Playdate, celebrate Earth Day on the Farm with Nature Hills Farm, and SO much more!

MONDAY, APRIL 22nd

Solar Party held 12:00 pm (noon) at the Southern Utah University – Gerald R Sherratt Library (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City), admission is FREE. For information call Lessa 435-633-1759. *depended on weather

Axe Throwing – Easter Event held 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at 100 W College Ave (Cedar City), $6 for 30 minutes of throwing! Join the fun for a chance to win FREE axe throwing at the next event. *NO Open Toed Shoes! Also enjoy free spike ball and corn hole!

Family Swim Night open from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Cedar City Aquatic Center (2090 W Royal Hunte Dr, Cedar City). Admission includes: 2 adults & 4 kids for only $10, additional family members are regular price. For information call 435-865-9223.

TUESDAY, APRIL 23rd

Frontier Homestead: Children’s Story Time held 10:00 am at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N Main St, Cedar City), admission is FREE. This is an opportunity for preschool children to learn about the past through stories and history-related activities. Thanks to the support of the Cedar City · Brian Head Tourism Bureau, children’s story time is offered free to the public. For information call 435-586-9290.

Fiddlers Fun Center $2 Tuesday held every Tuesday at Fiddlers Fun Center (170 E Fiddlers Canyon Rd, Cedar City). Come enjoy Movies for $2, $1 popcorn, $1 Pizza, and always stay & play at our state of the art Arcade facility.

SUU Orchestra & Choirs: German Requiem held 7:30 pm in the Heritage Center Theater (105 N 100 E, Cedar City), tickets are $10 adults & $5 youth. Enjoy the SUU Symphony Orchestra, the SUU Concert Choir, and the Opus Chamber Choir in a performance of Brahms’ German Requiem (also known as Ein deutsches Requiem). Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or online at www.suu.edu/pva.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24th

SUMA Create Playdate program held 11:00 am at Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City), FREE and open to all preschool children (3 yrs to 5 yrs) and their parents. Each 45-minute creative playdate will begin with a story and end with hands-on creative activities in theatre, dance, music, or visual art. For information call 435-586-5432.

Wonder Wednesdays held 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm in the Frehner Museum of Natural History (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City), admission is FREE. This new program is held in conjunction with early out Wednesdays for elementary schools in the Iron County School District. Children accompanied by an adult can drop by anytime between 2-4 pm for make-n-take activities or self-guided programming.

Toadz – Ladies Night: Chalk Couture with Ricki held 6:00 pm at Toadz (432 N 100 W, Cedar City). Ladies Night is calling! Come and get your craft on. We will be making chalkboards that you can erase and reuse! Designs are perfect for Mother’s Day! Ticket must be purchased in advance. Mama Pedestal Board – $20 (small service fee apply) or Fresh Flowers Truck – $30 (small service fee apply).

Artisan Art Gallery: One Man Show – Ron Pisaturo: Whispers From a World Next Door held 7:00 pm at Artisans Art Gallery (94 W University Blvd/Center St, Cedar City), admission is FREE – *may not be appropriate for audiences under 13 yrs. Seating is limited, so please arrive early. Light refreshments will be served after.

THURSDAY, APRIL 25th

Pop up Cafe from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm at Art Works Gallery (16 N 100 W, Cedar City). Best kept secret in Cedar! The farmer who loves to cook with the food she grows pops up in town once a week! She makes: seasonal sandwiches, soup, salads, scones, tarts, quiche, cookies, and other delectable goodies. Stay and eat in the art gallery or take it to go. You can grab something for dinner too. Either way you will be eating fabulous food from the Red Acre Farm kitchen! For information call 435-865-6792.

Southwest Tech – Annual Public Open House held 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm at the Southwest Technical College (757 W 800 S, Cedar City).  Get the Scoop on Southwest Tech; enjoy a scoop of ice cream and also free t-shirts for the first 200 people. Also get the scoop on all the certificate programs, dual enrollment partnership with SUU, and on all the community courses.

FRIDAY, APRIL 26th

Art Works Gallery: Brian Hoover – Solo Show: “Visual Contraptions” Opening Reception will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, the works will be on display Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 am – 6:00 pm at Art Works Gallery (16 N 100 W, Cedar City) through May 24th, admission is FREE. Utah artist, and SUU Professor of Art, Brian Hoover, will be featured in a solo show at Art Works Gallery. The show, entitled “Visual Contraptions” will feature collection of new works by Hoover, as well as earlier, significant works.

David Archuleta Spring Tour 2019 held 7:00 pm at the Heritage Center Theater (105 N 100 E, Cedar City), ticket pricing ranges from $25 Balcony Seating, $35 Premier Seating, and $50 Golden Circle.

Second Studio presents SUU Live: Best Of held 9:00 pm in the Southern Utah University – Hunter Conference Center (301 W University Blvd, Cedar City), admission TBA. Your monthly SUU Live but with your favorite performances from the year.

Off The Cuff Improv Comedy Shows held 10:00 pm at the Off the Cuff Improv Theater (913 S Main St, Cedar City), admission is $7. Trained by some of the greatest names in improv comedy. Earth Day on The Farm beginning at 9:00 am at Nature Hills Farm (4326 N 2100 E, Cedar City). Come out and help celebrate Earth day on the farm. From 9 am – 10 am free yoga class by Cedar Yoga Space. Bring your own mat. 10 am – 1 pm Farm tours, pet the baby animals, breakfast foods for purchase, plants and seeds for sale, kids plant a seed and enjoy the Spring day.

Downtown Year Round Farmers Market held 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Downtown Year Round Farmers Market (45 W University Blvd/Center St, Cedar City), admission is FREE.

Cedar Saturday Market held 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in the IFA parking lot (summer) & inside (winter) (905 S Main St, Cedar City), admission is FREE.

SUMA: Senior BFA Capstone Exhibition held Monday – Saturday 11:00 am – 6:00 pm at Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City), admission is FREE. This exhibit showcases the culmination of the undergraduate art studio experience for graduating students and includes work from a variety of artistic disciplines: art education, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography, painting, drawing, and printmaking.
