What’s Happening – March 25 – 31

March 25th – 31st – This is not just a week filled with warmer weather it is packed with things to do. From Trucks & Tunes for the SUU Honors fundraiser, Men’s Basketball, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber,  The Senior BFA Capstone Exhibition Opening at SUMA, SUU Aviation Open House, A Night of Hope and Healing Concert, Live music at the Last Chair Saloon in Brian Head, Vinyl & Brews 80’s Night in Cedar and more performing arts, beautiful conditions for skiing and boarding, and trails drying out and calling your name; this week will keep you on your toes but it will be so worth it. So get out and Let Wonder be Your Guide!

MONDAY, MARCH 25th

Trucks & Tunes held 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm in the Cedar City Main Street Park (200 N Main St, Cedar City). Stop by for some music, games, and food trucks at Trucks and Tunes; an SUU Honors fundraiser. Entrance is FREE and everyone is welcome to come to the park, relax, enjoy the music and games, and grab a bite to eat. This activity is great for families, couples, FHE, group activities, or just to hang out!

Family Swim Night open from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Cedar City Aquatic Center (2090 W Royal Hunte Dr, Cedar City). Admission includes: 2 adults & 4 kids for only $10, additional family members are regular price. For information call 435-865-9223.

SUU Men’s Basketball vs CSU Bakersfield held 6:30 pm in the SUU – America First Event Center (152 S 800 W, Cedar City). All tickets are $8 in appreciation of all the support this season. TUESDAY, MARCH 26th

SUU Opera Theatre & SUU Orchestra: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber held 7:30 pm in the Heritage Center Theater (105 N 100 E, Cedar City), admission is $10 adults & $5 youth. Hum along with your Andrew Lloyd Webber favorites in this exciting concert which is a review and adaptation of 20 songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals. For information visit www.suu.edu/pva.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27th

Wonder Wednesdays held 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Frehner Museum of Natural History (300 W 162 S, Cedar City). This new program is held in conjunction with early out Wednesdays for elementary schools. Children accompanied by an adult can drop by anytime between 2-4 pm for make-n-take activities. These programs are free for Iron County elementary students.

Make a Shekere Workshop held 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Arts Fusion (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City). Create a shekere using a dry gourd, string, and beads. Then learn how to use this West African percussion instrument for a variety of rhythm activities with children. This event is part of the artsFUSION 2019 Workshop Series. SUMA: Senior BFA Capstone Exhibition held Monday – Saturday 11:00 am – 6:00 pm at Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City), admission is FREE. This exhibit showcases the culmination of the undergraduate art studio experience for graduating students and includes work from a variety of artistic disciplines: art education, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography, painting, drawing, and printmaking.

This exhibit showcases the culmination of the undergraduate art studio experience for graduating students and includes work from a variety of artistic disciplines: art education, graphic design, ceramics, sculpture, illustration, photography, painting, drawing, and printmaking.

Melody in the Museum held 12:00 pm in the Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City). These concerts are held once per semester and are open to the public. Please join us on your lunch hour for this complimentary 30-minute concert performed by SUU music students and faculty and is a cooperative effort between the SUU Department of Music and SUMA. There will be Food, Giveaways, Flight Demonstrations, Aviation Speakers, and more!

A Night of Hope and Healing Concert held 7:00 pm at the Heritage Center Theater (105 N 100 E, Cedar City), tickets are $15 balcony seating, $24 premier seating, & $35 golden circle seating. This exclusive micro tour brings together three incredibly talented, uplifting Christian artists who are sure to deliver unforgettable performances!  Featuring three performers including Hilary Weeks, Jason Deere, & Jenny Oaks Baker.

Vinyl & Brews 80’s Night at Policy Kings Brewery (223 N 100 W, Cedar City) from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Let’s throwback to the 80’s! Come dressed up or just come to jam out! Pupusas will be for sale too!

SUU – Department of Music: un/pitched Metamorphosis Project Concert featuring percussionist, Lindsey Eastham performance at 7:30 pm in the SUU Music Building – Thorley Recital Hall (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) admission is FREE and open to the public. Lindsey Eastham is a contemporary percussionist from southern California. With un/pitched, Eastham has commissioned and performed six new percussion trio pieces. As a part of the Metamorphosis Project, she debuted four new vibraphone solos to audiences across the United States. For information visit www.suu.edu/pva.
