OCTOBER 22nd – 28th – The closer we get to Halloween the more there is to do and this week is no exception! We’ve got Haunted Houses with Willow Glen Inn’s Haunted Woods, Old Man Jones Barn, Shakesfear Haunted Tours, Haunted Hanger and Cedar City Children’s Musical Theatre’s Haunted Theater (two versions; one for the younger crowed and one for the more adventurous looking for a good scare!) The City is even in on the fun with the annual Halloween “Spook”tacular at the Community Center / Aquatic Center but this year it will be two nights not just one. Fiddlers Fun Center will be showing Rocky Horror Picture Show, Neil Simon presents Frankenstein On the Air, there is a Halloween Dodgeball Tournament, a benefit concert, art exhibits, comedy shows, trick-or-treating, a fun run and so much more!

MONDAY, OCTOBER 22nd

Frontier Homestead Special Exhibit: by Mya Lixian Gosling held Monday – Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N Main St, Cedar City), admission is $4 per person. Mya Lixian Gosling is the author and artist of Good Tickle Brain, the world’s foremost and possibly only stick-figure Shakespeare webcomic. You won’t want to miss this “Shakespeare in 3-panels” exhibit. For information call 435-586-9290.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23rd

Weekly Children’s Story Time held Tuesday from 10:00 am – 10:30 am at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N. Main St, Cedar City), FREE. The Frontier Story Time is an opportunity for preschool children to learn about the past through stories and history-related activities. Come for a different story and activity every week. Art Exhibit: SUMA – Encounter Korea open Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (Thurs 11 am – 8 pm) at Southern Utah Museum of Art – SUMA (13 S 300 W, Cedar City), admission is FREE. The exhibit features seven Korean-American and Korean artists with varying media including sculpture, painting and video work, curated in collaboration between SUMA and the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA). WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24th

Southern Utah Chef – held 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at IG Winery (59 W University Blvd, Cedar City), cost is $75. Features today favorite local culinary personalities: Nature Hills Farm teaching audience members to prepare and serve up delectable dishes from familiar restaurant menus. Classes will be taught in the amiable setting of the IG Winery with a different chef, baker or locally-owned restaurant being featured every week.
Trunk or Treat held 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm in the Paiute Housing Building (565 N 100 E, Cedar City). Presented by the Native Youth Program, UPTHA, Iron County Title VI Program, & PITU Education Department.
SUU Basketball Bash held 6:30 pm at SUU – America First Event Center (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City). Get the first look at the 2018-2019 Thunderbird Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams with: Three Point Contest, Dunk Contest, Scrimmage & More!

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25th

Grand Marshal Reception and Concert held 7:00 pm in the Heritage Center Theater (105 N 100 E, Cedar City), FREE. Honoring the 2018 Grand Marshal, Dr. Bagley, DVM and past Grand Marshal honorees with cowboy poetry, music performed by Belinda Gail, quilt gathering a special program. Frontline Forensics: Changing the Fate of the Unknown Soldier held 7:00 pm at Cedar North Elementary (550 W 200 N, Cedar City), FREE and open to everyone. Join for a commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the end of WWI. Featuring Dr. Penny Minturn, a forensic anthropologist who works identifying the remains of missing soldiers. Honor those who have fallen and find out about the work involved in bringing them home.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26th

Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival held at the Cross Hollow Events Center (West of Cedar City on Hwy 56)  featuring a livestock parade, historic and modern sheep camps, wagons, horses, antique tractors, concerts, entertainment, a stock dog demonstration, vendors, and Dutch oven cook-off. Halloween Dodgeball Tournament held at Southern Utah Sports Academy (494 N 2150 W, Cedar City). Wilson and Whetten Orthodontics proudly presents the 2nd Annual Youth Halloween Dodgeball Tournament! You don’t want to miss this FUN and EXCITING event! Downtown Year Round Farmer’s Market held 9:00 am – noon every Saturday (45 W University Blvd / Center St, Cedar City), admission is FREE. The Downtown Year Round Farmer’s Market offers the bounty of local farmers and back yard gardeners who grow organically year round. Come and support local farmers buy buying fresh and local year round. Only locally produced and grown fruit, vegetables, cheese, jam, bread, eggs, honey, and farm products are allowed to be sold.
Cedar Saturday Market held 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in the IFA parking lot (summer) & inside (winter) (905 S Main St, Cedar City), admission is FREE.
Stonehenge 5K Run & Food Drive beginning and ending at Stonehenge of Cedar City (333 W 1425 N, Cedar City). There is a $10 entry fee or $8 with a food donation. T-shirt, drinks, snacks, and fun provided. Awards will be given to 1st – 3rd Place Finishers (M/F). All food donations will go to the Iron County Care & Share. SUU USITT – Shakesfear Haunted Tours held 9:00 pm – 1:00 am beginning at the SUU Auditorium (300 W University Blvd, Cedar City), tickets are $5 at the door (cash or card). The tour runs through the Auditorium Theatre, to the basement, and then through the tunnel that connects the Auditorium to the Adams Theatre, and then through the Adams. All Hallows Eve (Samhain) Ceremony held 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Utah Goddess Temple (5472 N 3575 W, Cedar City), admission is $33. Each year in October they offer guests the opportunity to participate in a traditional Witches/Pagan Halloween Tradition referred to as Samhain (Sow-een). This is the new years eve and night to honor our dearly departed. This year this is an adult only event and guests must RSVP. This is also a fundraiser for the “Beloved” pagan temple. ALL proceeds go towards helping prepare for winter so that weekly services can be offered year round. For information call 435-592-0093.

4th Annual Scarecrow Contest from Dawn to Dusk at Red Acres Farm CSA (2322 W 4375 N, Cedar City), admission is FREE. PUMPKIN PATCHES

Judd Pumpkin Patch & Petting Zoo held Monday – Saturday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm. Pumpkins are .20 cents per pound (no entrance fee), Petting Zoo is FREE and Wagon Rides are $1.50 4yrs and up (3yrs and under FREE); wagon rides available Monday & Friday (5 – 7 pm) & Saturday (9 am – 7 pm), held at the Judd Family Farm (314 E 270 N, Paragonah). Robinson Family Pumpkin Patch open Monday – Friday 5 pm until dark (approx. 7:20 pm) and Saturday 10 am until dark (approx. 7:20 pm), admission is FREE. Located at 1450 W Industrial Rd, Cedar City. HAUNTED HOUSES

Haunted Theater held Friday & Saturday at the Cedar City Children’s Musical Theatre (1579 N Main St, Cedar City), 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm younger kids (less scary) & 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm older kids & adults (more scary). Admission is $5 and all proceeds benefit the Cedar City Children’s Musical Theatre. For information visit www.cccmt.org.
4th Annual Cedar Mustangs Haunted Hangar held Friday & Saturday 7:00 pm – 11:00 pm in the Civil Air Patrol Hanger (2296 Aviation Way, Cedar City), admission is recommended donation $3 for kids under the age of 10, $4 for kids/adults over the age of 10 (donations need to be in cash or check only – no cards). Join us for a night of fright! Shoot our zombies with nerf guns inside our creepy Hangar Maze! If you survive… win a tasty prize!

Old Man Jones Barn – Haunted Barn / House held Friday and Saturday & Halloween from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm and located at 335 N Bulloch Place. (Cedar City). Admission is FREE but they will be collecting donations for Jake Zigler, he is fighting terminal brain cancer.
